Friday Khutbah - "Be Mindful of Allah Wherever You Are"

11/20/20 - Noor Islamic Cultural Center

On the authority of Abu Dharr Jundub ibn Junadah, and Abu Abdur-Rahman Muadh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

Have taqwa (fear) of Allah wherever you may be, and follow up a bad deed with a good deed which will wipe it out, and behave well towards the people.

It was related by at-Tirmidhi, who said it was a hasan (good) hadeeth, and in some copies it is stated to be a hasan saheeh hadeeth. (translation via sunnah.com)

This khutbah is a very brief reminder based on this narration along with a reminder to the community to adhere to the guidelines necessary to keep the masjid operational during the coronavirus pandemic (video is frozen but audio is functional).

AlMaghrib IlmNight and MSA Conference - February 29th, 2020!

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuhu. As many of you know, I have recently taken on the responsibility of Ameer for the Columbus, Ohio chapter of AlMaghrib Institute, Qableelah Mujaddad. I am both humbled and honored to be a part of keeping our city connected with Islamic scholarship and learning for everyone from dedicated students to curious learners.

Our next event is an IlmNight, a one-night class with Ustadha Yasmin Mogahed on February 29th, 2020 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. You may register here: www.almaghrib.org/columbus.

We are partnering with the Muslim Student Association at the Ohio State University. I will be one of the speakers at the MSA Midwest Conference "Falling in Love with Allah". You can grab tickets and learn more about that event here: https://www.msaohiostate.org/midwest.

Looking forward to seeing you there, Allah willing! Please let me know if you have any questions.

How to be a Mindful Muslim: An Exercise in Islamic Meditation

While this was published some time ago, the research done by my beloved brother Justin Parrott is groundbreaking and important for those of us who are trying to maintain our spirituality in an era of constant distraction. I highly recommend taking time to read the article and watch the video below.
